  1. Doug Setley , Cpl., U.S.M.C. Comm Platoon, H&HS Co., 1st Bn, 27th Marines, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii - Viet Nam, 1965-1968. Spent 2 1/2 years in Hawaii then went to Nam in Feb. 1968 with the unit. Just going through some of my stuff and found a complete platoon roster for the unit and a watch schedule for June 30, 1967.   6. Fred Norgan 528th det 11th bn 4th tc, Saigon & south, 67-68. I skippered river patrol boats J-3765 & J-3796 all over the delta. The River Rats were a great bunch of loonies. You had to be a little loony to be a sitting duck on a river.There was no such a thing as "take cover" on a gun boat. At times the enemy would be close enough to hit with a bowling ball. If you were one of those idiots drop me a line. And, glad you made it brother.

I served in nam with Fox co...2nd.btn./9th.reg, .3rd.marine div. from Nov.67 thru Dec.68 ..I CORPS ,khe san,the rockpile,cam lo, all along hwy 9, camp carroll,lz stud,contien,geolin,etc.etc. would like to hear from any one with the marines in these areas! Also had a high school buddy that was a marine engineer (mine sweeper) stepped on a mine 2 days after i left country. his name was LARRY EANS from Dunbar, Pennsylvania.   8. Neal Lebel 1/83 artillery, phu bi, 70-71. looking for any one who was there with me in the 1/83,1/29 and 2/39 during 10/70 to 10/71. for the most part i drove a track and delevered ammo to the grunts and artillery. base was camp eagle at Phu Bi glad to hear from anybody in the area.

  9. Edmund C. Perry (Ed) VMFA-542, HMM-164, Special Landing Force Bravo, Chu Lai, Marble Mountain, 66-68. In my family we're ALL Marines! I was bomb-hanger with VMFA-542 and door gunner with HMM-164. Brother was a PRC-25 operator with the groundpounders (grin). Dad was an old China Marine, served on Guadalcanal, etc., and retired out in '54. Would enjoy hearing from anyone in my old units.

  12. dick ray Movements Control Center (MCC), Vung Tau/Long Binh, 1969-1970. Was a Captain reassigned from 3/71st missile battalion in Germany. Saw a lot of the delta. Particularly looking for Maj. James R.(RON) Webb, Captains Ron Rahn, Pete Assimokopoulas. We shared some scarey and some fun times. Set up LCU/LCM operation called the Can Tho Express. It seems like it was yesterday.

The party was just too much for me resulting in a supine ride back home to Fitzsimmons General Hospital in Denver. Would love to hear from any former Cotton-Ballers.

  18. Reg Manning A-322, 5th SFG (Abn), Katum, 1969. Looking for any Special Forces team mates who were at A-322 (Katum) or at A-323 (Thien Ngon) in 1969. Specifically, (1)what date did the C-130 get shot up and burn up on the runway at Katum and (2) what date did C-130 get shot down and almost crash on top of John Campbell and me. It was in the summer of 1969. It crashed about 2.5 klicks NE of Katum. Also, anybody know the designation of the US artillery battery which was in the East starpoint at Katum? Any help appreciated.

Served for a short period with a National Guard unit from Rhode Island at Long Binh. From there to the US Army War Collage, Carlisle Pa.

I am looking for anyone who was stationed in either of those two units during this time frame. I would also like to hear from anyone stationed with the 606th, 6llth 33rd Ordnance Co. or the 174th Ord Det. Would also love to hear from anyone stationed in Cam Ranh Bay during this time period.

  27. Mike Thies 20th Transp.(ADS), 520 Trans. Bn., Cu Chi & Phu Loi, 67-68. I was a crewman/rigger with Pipesmoke Recovery while at Phu Loi. Pipesmoke was the team that recovered downed aircraft for the aviation units in the III & IV Corps areas. Would love to hear from any of the old crew or other members of the 20th or 520th who might visit this terrific website.

  29. Don Casteel "A" Co., 2nd Bn., 14th Inf., 25th Inf. Div. , Cu Chi, Tay Ninh Area (III Corp), 1968 - 1969. I was in A Co 2nd/14th Inf. & then later in HHC, 1st Brigade, 25th Inf. Div. in 68 & 69. Trying to locate the other guys in A Co. 2/14 during that time. I was in the 1st Platoon, on the M60 crew with Charlie Watkins & Stu Mulhane. I have their addresses as well as Scott Murphy, M79 man in 1st Platoon and then later in the Mortars. I think Watkins went to Mortars too.   30. John McDonnell Looking for folks who knew my father John T(erry) McDonnell. He served with the A324 Detachment of the the 5th Special Forces in the Thanh Dien Forest in 1965. He later flew Cobras with the 4/77th A battery, 101st Airborne, out of Camp Eagle in 1969. I have met some of the folks he served with (Ron Greenfield, his CO Robert Vaughn, and pilots John David Schoop and Jack Taber) but am still looking to correspond with Roger Bean if anyone knows his whereabouts. I would like to make contact with any trucker who remembers those God-Awful trips up the An Khe Pass and then on through all the way to Pleiku, and especially that ambush we took coming back empty on Highway 19 just west of An Khe. Most of our drivers that were killed were just new in Country, the rest of us were due to rotate back to the land of "the BIG PX" on the 27th of that Cold, wet September. The ambush took place on the 2nd. A day that burned a scar into my body and Soul....Steve Harvey, 669th trans. Co. Qui Nhon.

  54. Alan Jackson POW/MIA--I am the son of Capt. Carl E. Jackson, USAF. He was shot down on June 27, 1965 while piloting his a/c, a C-123. Today he remains MIA. Personally, adjusted 90% of all observed Arty Fires during Dakto. While adjusting from H-13 on 13 Nov67 for 1/403 was shot down, on 19 Nov in H-13 with same pilot 1LT Skip Reeves was shot down over Hill 875. Our shooting down was the ist shots in the NVA's counter attack against A-2/503. Returned to Vietnam Jul 70 as Sr. Bn Inf Adv to 1st Bn 3d Regt 1st ARVN Div. Btry CO 1/183 FA Germany 73-75 out of Active duty Oct 77. Retired May 94 as LTC from Reserves. My greatest days were serving with the 173d ABN BDE. "Don't ever forget! Airborne!

  66. KEN TETRAULT 55Erd recon, Korat Thialand, 1967-68. I'm looking for any information on the 553rd after 1968. We were known as the "bat-cats". With what I've been able to find out so far, it seems that we were all just having a bad dream. I have looke for new articales, in the Smithsonian for our wings patch, but to no avail. It seems that all the history behind the 553rd has been lost. If any body know's any thing give me a shout.

  67. Myron Fineberg 5th US Special Forces, Can Tho and Moc Hoa, 68-70. I am one of those unfortunate suffering with PTSD and am in group and individual therapy, on many medications, and visit a Psychiatrist once a month. I am having many problems dealing with long and short term memory loss, i.e., I can remember those we lost, but am having musch trouble remembering those who were lucky enought to come hme as I did. I would appreciate any contact from those that might remember me, especially at Moc Hoa, B-43.

  68. Julian C. Josey, MD HHC 3rd Bde. 9th Inf. Div., Bear Cat/Dong Tam/Tan An, Dec.'66 May '67. I am a medical doctor who joined the HHC 3rd Bde. 9th div. at Ft. Riley KS as they were moving out to Viet Nam. We sailed from Oakland Army terminal aboard the USNS Gen. Wm. Weigle. An eight hour liberty in Okinawa then to Vung Tau. By deuce and a half to Bear Cat, then to Dong Tam (the dredge that was blowing the spoil that created that artificial sand bar had been sunk by the VC the week before) and finally to Tan An. I have recently made contact with my old tent mate Jack Geddes, the S4. He is in San Antonio TX, a ret Lt. Col. mostly getting around with a walker.   74. Rick Hughes Co B 504th MP Bn, Kontum & An Khe, 1969(all 365 days). From 1/69 to 3/69 I was an MP in Kontum at a MACV compound. 3/69 moved to AnKhe at Camp Radcliff (I think this was the name). I was with a highway squad that patroled highway 19,and helped provide security for convoys. Our AO was from bridge 11 p@execpc.comthru the AnKhe Pass and Mang Yang Pass. I left Dec 31 1969. Anybody remember that stretch of highway?

  78. Dane Rowton 25th Inf. Division, Cu Chi, 1968-69. I was with a combat engineering Co. I can't even remember the unit. Its slogan was "First-In-Last Out. It was painted on the barrels of our M48A3 tank. Can anyone help me with the unit name? It was on the oposite side of the base camp from the PX, just across the road from the air strip. I will tell my comrades about it. I am a retired 30 year career soldier and served in Korea with the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team and Vietnam with the 5th Special Forces Group.Both "Great" outfits. I only wish I was young enough to do it all over again. I met many fine men during my 30 years service and get to see many of them two or three times a year at our reeunions. In April we are going to Australia to visit our Aussie comrades who served with us in Korea. They have arranged some activities for us which I know we will remember for the rest of our lives.
