He served as a photographer on the B-17 BUCKEYE BELL with the eight Air Force 305th bomb group during WWII. He returned home after the war and became a firefighter. He was killed when I was 9 years old. I very much want to find out more about his servicetime.

  12. pete willet 109th & 383rd rigger det., camran bay and bien hoa, 1967-68. I was a paratropper with the 82nd and shipped to nam where I was put with the 109th for a short while and then about twenty of us were shipped to Bien Hoa to up a unit for rigging supplies such as food,ammo,fuel, and anything else that was needed to supply our guys at the difference base camps in Nam.We were stationed out side the air base not far from the 101st. I'm looking for some of the guys I served with during that time. One of my buddies was Melvin Crowl from Maryland.

I was there for the first strike on HAIPHONG HARBOR in June of 1966. Would enjoy hearing from other ex-members of VQ-1 from the same years, especially if you were one of "Ponce's Pirates".

He was origionally from Louisiana. I do not know much about him and am trying to find out information about his life. He died in a huey accident over Pensecola's base, August, 1978.   18. Ted Johnson US Navy, 1951-55. I took my basic training at usntc San Diego Sept. 1951 company 044. I was then assigned to the USS Los Angeles CA-135, and served till 1953. After an emergency leave, I was asigned to a Naval Res.training station in Montgomery Al. In 1953 I was asigned to the USS Wahkiakum County, LST-1162 and served abord her till I was discharged in Sept. 1955. On the Los Angeles I was a deck hand in the 5th. Div. On the 1162 I was a shipserviceman. I ran the ship's store and was the ship's barber. I would love to here from any of my old shipmates. Ted Johnson

I was also with Det J of 3rd RRU in Phu Bai in '64. I have special interest in locating unknown Naval person who saved my life on night of 12/13 May 1969. I never met you, never heard your name. You were aboard a ship close to shore near VN-Cambodian border. We had been ambushed and I could not make radio contact with anyone. You heard me,brought in help and did it in a very special way at the end by having me key my mic for "yes" or "no" to your questions.Enemy was too close for me to talk. I would love to meet you.   36. Richard Lindquist 92nd Engineer Battalion (Construction), Long Binh and Xom Tam Quarry, May 1967 to May 1968. We built up Long binh to enable the USARV and 1st Log Hq to move out there. Then we took over Xom Tam Quarry and began rebuilding the roads from Long Binh to Di An to Phu Loi to Phu Cuong. I was back there in 1998 and out old battalion area is now suburbia with a lot of rather nice houses there. Any one that was in the 92nd or in any related units, send me an E-mail.   38. Robert Young 1st Med. Amb. Platoon, 44 th Med. Brigade. Pleiku, 1969. My Doctor says I developed a Combat Related Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD), Chronic & Severe during a rocket attack at night when the 71 Evac was hit. They dropped a rocket between two commander's trailers up there. Debree was hitting living quarters of Pleiku Compound. I am still having flash backs and waking up from the nightmares I have of the attack. Anyone who was there please write about it and send to my doctor. I was just wanting to hear from members of the 25Th,Division,that served from the years of 1961 till 1964.Especially from those that may have served on what we called (Shotgun crews), all volunteers,who went to Vietnam,to serve on the choppers.We were the machine gunners-M-60's. As to my knowledge,we were among the first of the combat troops,in Vietnam.Of course,you don't get any credit for serving in Vietnam untill August of 1964,onwards.I think that this is a disgrace.There are no V.A. benefits for us guys.Blame this on Presidents Kennedy and Johnson. Afew days later I recieved a phone call from an old buddy I had served with in Nam.Even better yet acouple of weeks ago I had the opertunity to go visit him for a couple of hours [he lives about 700 miles from me]IT WAS Good to see him after almost thirty years.More good news .I volunteered to assist in in any way the visit of the TRAVELING WALL that is comeing to my area on 9/23/24/25/26/99 and I was granted the honor by the local KIWANIS ORG.who are sponsoring it.Now I am trying to locate otehers that I served with both in Nam and at other locations.If you remember me please E mail . Anxious to contact anyone serving with the U.S. Army in Oran that was associated with the 1st Batallion Motor Depot--also known as Ordnance Depot 150-0 which was located in a large hangar building that the French called Nouvelle Halle and later Les Halles. Behind this building was a Military Camp whose activities were those of an Ordnance Motor Vehicle Assembly Company. Companies known to have been stationed in Oran at that time were the 101st,112th, and 149th Ordnance Motor Vehicle Assembly Companies and the 156th Ordnance Tire Repair Co. There was one knight that only a few will rember we at a water point and having a blast. The week end was just all mine. we were having a party on top of a water truck and charlie put a few motors towards the air strip. we were even laughing when we saw people come out of the latreenes to duck for cover. Charlie omly sent three morters to the strip but they landed short. Any that was on the water truck will know where i are from.   86. Bill Taggart 1st batallion 83rd Arty, Nui Dat, 1966-1967. I was part of the 1st batallion, 83rd Artillery from April 1966 till my release from service in November 1967. We reformed the unit and went to Vietnam in October of 1966. I have tried for years with no success to find out what became of the 83rd after I left(a couple of months before the TET offensive). We arrived in country 10/31/66 as a unit, HQ, Service, A, B, C batteries. We were 8 inch and 175 mm self-propelled(not that we moved much). We were in IV Corps with the Australians in a place called Nui Dat on an old Michelin rubber plantation. We were in Phouc Tuy province. I would also like to hear from any members of the 83rd.   88. anthony t planas jr Aco.2/47thMechanized Bn 9th Inf. div., san antonio, 55. March 1968 I was assigned to a co.2/47 at BEARCAT. ssgtCarney was the motor sgt. Paul Hyman from S. Carolina was there and ? Lange was the. Smitty from NY was the. the 1st sgt was a older man from Boston. I can't remember the COs name. We were at the bridges and in the jungle guarding the Enginners. Then in June we went to Bihn Phouc and at Tan An at different times. We were at the rubber plantation On JULY 13 68 we were in the rice patties on a mission where we were attacked and lost a track that was hit with a rpg the driver was killed. I was with the maintenance section where the company CP was set up and we loaded the wounded onto choppers. The next day Iwe came back and a flying crane came in and picked up the track(APC). i CAME BACK TO THE STATES in FEb 69.

  89. bishop,james c II hhc(recon)2/14th inf 25 div, chu chi,vietnam, 1966-1967. i was a staff sargeant with the recon platoon,squad leader for the rifle sqd,then later the platoon sargeant.thanks for this small post,an i saw quigly down under and i liked it.i was also with hhc 2/47th inf 9th div as an sargeant first class platoon sgt of the recon plt in 1969.
